OneAquaHealth Key Indicators of Ecosystem and Biological Health - Factsheets Collection
Description
This document presents a set of illustrated factsheets describing environmental and biological health indicators used to assess the health of urban freshwater ecosystems developed within the Horizon Europe project OneAquaHealth (Grant Agreement 101086521), aimed at assessing and protecting urban aquatic ecosystems under a One Health perspective. The factsheets cover a wide range of indicators including aquatic organisms and biodiversity indicators, microbial and pathogen-related indicators, as well as environmental and physicochemical parameters. For each indicator is provided a short description of its relevance and standardized methods for field sampling or laboratory analysis. This collection supports harmonized monitoring approaches and interdisciplinary research linking environmental quality, biodiversity, and public health in urban aquatic systems, and is intended to inform decision-makers and other stakeholders working in public health, sustainable cities, nature conservation, and environmental education.
