Description
This document summarises the major achievements, described as both results and impacts of the EU-AFrica PerMed project.
After a short introduction to the project, with main objectives and the planned work packages, the document presents the project log frame, to graphically show the linkage between the different Work packages that formed the project workplan, main objectives and all the activities sought to contribute to the impacts set forth in the proposal. The project had the following expected impacts:
• Integrating the country/group of countries into ICPerMed activities
• Support wider adoption of standards developed in Europe
• Support the EU-AU policy dialogues relevant to research and health
• Contribute towards the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
A section is included which presents the expected outcomes and impacts as they were initially outlined in the project proposal, explaining how far the project has been able to achieve them. It also includes the metrics for the Key Performance Indicators that were selected to be used to measure the performance of the project in achieving the expected impacts. EU-Africa PerMed performance has been very good in terms of achieving the expected impacts, highlighting that thanks to the project work, four African organisations from South Africa, Egypt, Tunisia and Tanzania are now full members of ICPerMed.
Finally, the document includes a section on some project additional impacts not initially foreseen in the proposal that are relevant to show, such as contributing to advancing the PM agenda, at national, regional and Pan-African level. Some examples are briefly explained for Kenya and Tunisia. Project activities, not initially planned, have also contributed to advancing the PM agenda in Africa, or references of EU-Africa PerMed work by third parties.
