MPI-driven reduced-Mediterranean RegCM5-BATS CP paleoclimate simulations

Description

This dataset comprises five convection-permitting (CP) 10-year experiments, including paleoclimate simulations, conducted using the Regional Climate Model, RegCM5. The model is configured with the BATS land surface scheme and driven by CMIP6 MPI-ESM1-2-LR model data. The five experiments are: historical (1995-2004); Pre-Industrial (1850-1859); Year 1000 (1000-1009); Mid-Holocene (1241-1250*); Last Glacial Maximum (2090-2099*). [*Note: years marked with * do not correspond to the actual year.]

The dataset includes the namelists for the intermediate 0.44° extra-European and 0.11° EURO-CORDEX simulations, as well as the high-resolution 0.03° CP simulation over a reduced Mediterranean domain. The provided NetCDF files contain the fixed orography variable and daily outputs of precipitation, near-surface air temperature, and surface wind speed for all five simulations.

This dataset is evaluated in the upcoming study “Evaluation of Convection-Permitting Paleoclimate Simulations with Climate-Driven Land-Use Mapping for the Central Mediterranean,” which is currently in preparation.
