Description

The SteamDry project will develop and pilot superheated steam drying technologies for web-like materials such as paper, board, tissue, and nonwovens, aiming at a significant reduction in the CO2 footprint of the paper and pulp industry. As part of this endeavour, a set of simulation models for various parts of the drying process will be developed, and advanced control concepts will be implemented and tested in a set of laboratory-scale piloting trials.
The present document lays down the preliminary IT concept for the modelling activities, the automation and control approach, and the monitoring and evaluation of the lab trials. Furthermore, it provides a selected overview of similar IT concepts from past European research projects and other relevant standardisation activities, thus establishing the state of the art as a basis for the SteamDry project.
