EU Standardisation Booster - D3.2 Lessons learned and service report

Description

HSbooster.eu, a Horizon Europe-funded initiative, has worked over the past 2.5 years to advance the standardisation capabilities of EU-funded R&I projects by offering a comprehensive suite of support services.

The project employed a phased "learning by doing" approach, continuously refining its services based on feedback from participating projects, experts and External Advisory Group (EAG) members. Automated tools like the Standards Orientation Tool (SOT) and the chatbot Norma provide scalable, self-service options that help projects assess their standardisation readiness and navigate the complex landscape of standardisation.

Additionally, the project is working on a new Standards Catalogue Search Tool to fetch relevant information about standards useful for R&I projects in different fields. Proactive services, including webinars and one-to-one orientation sessions, offer targeted support and facilitated direct engagement with standardisation experts. These services are particularly valuable for early-stage projects, providing comprehensive introductions to the standardisation landscape and practical guidance. Premium services, such as one-to-one and extended consultancies, deep dive workshops, and CWA support, offer in-depth, personalised assistance for projects with more complex standardisation challenges.

These services help projects achieve standardisation outcomes, enhancing their results and aligning their research with relevant standards. To date, HSbooster.eu has provided over 170 Premium services to over 150 projects, supported the kick-off activities for the future development of CEN Workshop Agreements (CWAs), and facilitated 8 Premium Deep Dive workshops and webinar series. The services will continue to be delivered until the project ends in March 2025. This deliverable offers lessons learned and best practices identified throughout the whole experience, providing concrete examples from the served projects whenever possible. The insights here contribute to the wider framework for future standardisation support initiatives, ensuring that the benefits of HSbooster.eu’s approach are more widely recognised and adopted.
