Modern LaTeX Editions of Public-Domain Mathematics Manuscripts

This record is the public front page for an ongoing open project to produce modern, inspectable LaTeX editions and translations of older mathematics and physics manuscripts. Public-domain scans and source/reference materials are collected, transcribed into TeX, checked into readable PDFs, organized by author/work or coherent corpus, and published with source artifacts so readers can inspect, correct, fork, and continue the work.

• EGA working English translation and source package: [###-------] 30/100 toward complete translated/proofread EGA; [##########] French originals present EGA I-II are largely inherited from the community translation; current project additions include EGA 0_IV sections 15 through 23 and EGA IV sections 1 through 21 as substantive working translations. The latest EGA update also replaces a provisional EGA IV 7.9 placeholder with a direct working translation of the French section on excellent rings and resolution of singularities. The current English reader is a 971-page working PDF, with all eight NUMDAM French originals included separately as direct top-level PDFs and TeX/source packets in ZIP artifacts. • Non-European and multilingual mathematical manuscripts: [#########-] 94/100 for the current multilingual working release; broader corpus expansion continues consolidated repaired release for Chinese, Indian/Sanskrit, Islamic/Arabic, and historical-reference mathematical works, organized as combined reader PDFs, direct work-level PDFs, source/provenance/audit ZIP artifacts, and a public JSON summary. The current repaired release contains 66 reader PDFs, 214 editable TeX files, regenerated component PDFs, repair notes, text-sweep reports, and two large additional source-refinement packets preserved as neutral provenance ZIPs; the latest editorial repair replaced all 66 top-level reader PDFs from the reviewed public-reader package, and two sparse top-level reference readers were replaced with complete public-domain scan PDFs; duplicate alias PDFs were removed from the reader surface. This is the main front door for the non-European/multilingual corpus; the Chinese, Indian/Sanskrit, Islamic/Arabic, and historical-reference records below are focused download slices of the same corpus rather than competing project pages. • Heinrich Weber: [######----] 63/100 author page with original-language modern LaTeX readers for Lehrbuch der Algebra Volumes I and III, the current Volume II English translation reader through section 124, including the icosahedral group, finite linear fractional groups, and the general theory of the quintic, plus a separate Volume I English draft on inverse substitutions, transformed substitutions, transposed substitutions, permutation substitutions, invariants, and finite binary polyhedral groups. • Emmy Noether: [#####-----] 50/100 author page with a selected mathematical-papers modern LaTeX draft, with collected-volume wrapper pages removed, and current English translation drafts covering invariant theory, finite-group invariant theorems, absolute irreducibility, formal variational calculus, polynomial ideals and resultants, elimination theory, abstract ideal theory, Hilbert numbers, group characters, hypercomplex quantities, and representation-theoretic material. • Carl Friedrich Gauss: [########--] 80/100 for currently assembled reader drafts; broader Werke completion continues author page for selected Werke volumes and an individual-papers grouping as modern LaTeX working drafts. The clean author record has eight direct reader PDFs: Bands I, I alternate, II, III, VI, VII, XI Part I, and individual papers, plus TeX/source/component/audit artifacts in a ZIP. • Cayley, Dedekind, Dirichlet, Gauss, Weber, and Noether: classical algebra and arithmetic shelf: [######----] 60/100 legacy cross-author shelf for selected modern LaTeX working drafts. Author-specific pages supersede duplicate front-facing Weber and Noether material where those pages are cleaner, but this shelf remains useful as a compact bulk record for the broader classical algebra/arithmetic cluster and for work not yet split into author pages. • Minkowski, Hecke, Landau, Steinitz, Hensel, Oka, Hausdorff, Grassmann, and Killing: [######----] 60/100 author-cluster record for cleaner reader PDFs and source/provenance artifacts; duplicate/mislabelled surface material consolidated, and obvious modern collected-volume wrappers removed from the public PDFs. Workflow provenance. Review sessions identify and prioritize older public-domain or otherwise suitable works for transcription and translation; readers are welcome to suggest works or point to better public PDFs/scans. Local archive tooling downloads and indexes scans and source packets, prepares working folders, audits files, organizes public releases, and publishes through the Zenodo API. Large-scale machine-assisted transcription systems convert scans to TeX drafts, which are preserved as source/provenance artifacts. Review passes check, repair, and translate the TeX. Public organization is by author, work, or coherent corpus; internal run names are kept out of public titles and reader PDFs except where raw provenance archives preserve as-received workflow material.

Raw source preservation update. The current raw working inputs are included directly on this already-linked original/main record as ten chunked ZIP files, plus a manifest and README. There is no separate public raw-source DOI. These are provenance/backstop files for reconstruction and continuation; the reader-facing records remain organized by author or corpus.

File organization. Top-level PDFs are reader-facing files intended for browsing and direct download. ZIP files contain TeX/source material, source scans or reference material where appropriate, OCR text, provenance, manifests, audit outputs, and repair queues. Records are being split by author or coherent corpus while this main record remains the single landing page and bulk preservation surface.

Coherence note. Redundant records are being handled conservatively: cleaner author/corpus pages become the recommended public entry points, while older broad shelves are retained as preservation surfaces until their contents are fully superseded, checked, and linked. This avoids losing work while making the front-facing archive progressively easier to browse.

Quality note. These are working scholarly drafts, not final critical editions. Technical PDF audits check whether files open and extract text; they do not prove mathematical correctness. Some drafts still need layout repair, source comparison, theorem-number checking, and human proofreading. Availability is preserved while cleaner organized versions are built.
