For Submissions to the Sentinel Journal and Sentinel Review
Zenodo Community: Sentinel Research Publications
Scope and Mission
The Sentinel Research Society (SRS) accepts submissions to its two primary publications:
-
The Sentinel Journal: A peer-reviewed, graduate-to-doctoral level academic journal focused on national security, strategy, statecraft, intelligence, and counterintelligence.
-
The Sentinel Review: A curated, editorially-reviewed magazine that offers policy commentary, analytical essays, and strategic insights intended for a broader audience of policymakers, practitioners, and students.
All submissions must align with the mission of SRS: to advance rigorous, nonpartisan research on complex national security challenges through academically grounded and policy-relevant work.
Review and Approval Process
All submissions undergo a multi-tiered editorial process to ensure scholarly integrity and alignment with the publication’s objectives:
-
Initial Editorial Review
Upon submission, each article is screened by the editorial board for thematic relevance, clarity, and compliance with formatting standards. -
Peer Review (Sentinel Journal only)
Articles submitted to the Sentinel Journal will be subject to a formal peer review process by at least two qualified reviewers with subject-matter expertise. This process is double-blind and typically completed within 4–6 weeks. -
Editorial Review (Sentinel Review)
Submissions to the Sentinel Review are reviewed by members of the editorial team for intellectual rigor, clarity, and relevance to ongoing policy debates. While not peer-reviewed, these submissions must meet professional editorial standards. -
Final Approval
All accepted articles—whether academic or editorial in nature—will require final approval by the Editor-in-Chief prior to publication on Zenodo and/or the official Sentinel website.
Formatting and Style Requirements
All articles must be submitted in Chicago Manual of Style (17th edition) using full-note footnotes (not in-text citations or endnotes). Submissions that do not adhere to this style may be returned for correction prior to formal review.
