EDI provides an incubation programme and up to €100k equity free for EU Big Data startups sorting out data challenges from companies in a myriad of sectors, or to propose their own concepts/ ideas making use of our data catalogue. EDI supports startups or SMEs by providing training on the most advanced solutions, previous experience in incubators and connection with the network for startups. EDI supports Data Providers by selecting and incubating the most suitable startups to address their data associated challenges that could be solved by applying Big Data analysis.
EDI enables Big Data focused EXPERIMENTATION and BUSINESS INCUBATION for Big Data startups in Europe by making available the tools (hardware & software), the data and the resources (funding, technical and business orientation) needed. The incubation process in EDI consists of 3 iterations over the Open Call → EXPLORE → EXPERIMENT → EVOLVE incubation stages, where continuous technical, business and funding support is provided to those startups qualifying for the different phases.
In a nutshell, EDI is targeted to Big Data innovators and entrepreneurs in order to help and support them solving real industry challenges provided by various EU corporates and data providers across a wide range of sectors, or to develop independent data solutions utilizing the available datasets, in key industrial domains, e.g. a) Cross Sector; b) Energy & Environment; c) Industry 4.0; d) Internet & Media; e) Retail and f) Smart Cities.
This community gathers the datasets declared in Data Management Plan of the project, where the datasets characteristics of the project are defined and principles and rules for the distribution of data within EDI. The following datasets are going to be published: a) Open Call datasets - a spreadsheet with the information gathered in EDI as result of proposals’ submissions for its 3 roudns of incubation will be generated; b) subgrantees dataset - including beneficiaries of our three open calls including their data and funding received and c) external experts dataset: evaluators and mentors hired to evaluate our proposals
