Imagine reading a book or napping while ‘driving’ your car to work in the mornings. This is the future of highly automated vehicles (HAVs) that do not need any human intervention. In this context, the EU-funded AWARE2ALL project will explore how passengers will actually sit in cars and what activities they will engage in. It will also investigate how HAVs will navigate through heavy traffic and effectively address the changes in road safety and changes in the interaction of different road users. AWARE2ALL will also propose a common conceptual universal safety framework for considering Human Machine Interaction.
