Module 1. What is open science?
This module is a part of the introductory online course “Bringing synergy to better data management and research in Europe”. The course helps learners get up to speed with innovative services and research data management approaches and do better research.
In this module learners will become familiar with the Open Science movement and its principles. They will learn about the practical advantages of embracing these principles and will know how to join the movement in easy steps.
By the end of this module, learners will be able to:
- Define the concepts of Open Science and Open Access.
- Explain the benefits of Open Science practices from a researcher’s and society’s perspective.
- Start practicing Open Science.
This module is suitable for researchers, students, trainers and data professionals seeking introductory learning material. It will take on average 30 minutes to complete the module.
In addition to the full text of the module, the materials include a video presentation (6 min), a PowerPoint presentation and various learning activities and resources to support learning.
Developed within the EOSC Synergy project, all of the content can be freely shared and reused with the attribution to the EOSC Synergy project and/or other relevant sources. To make full use of the course (e.g. take quizzes), please register as a new user.
