Report on the craft-technology innovation methodology
Contributors
Description
This deliverable presents a framework for a craft-technology-driven innovation methodology that positions digital technologies and cooperative action models as instruments for integrating the New European Bauhaus (NEB) principles, Beautiful, Sustainable, Together, into contemporary craft practices. Building on insights from Tasks 1.1-1.2, 2.1, and 3.1, the framework demonstrates how digital and cutting-edge technologies can sustain craft innovation while preserving cultural heritage and promoting inclusivity. Developed collaboratively by FabLab Venezia, CBS, and UNIVE, with contributions from UGOT, the methodology combines conceptual reflection with practical tools, actions, and formats for awareness-raising, experimentation, and lifelong learning.
By aligning technological integration with the NEB values, the framework contributes to re-imagining craft as a driver of ecological transition, social inclusion, and aesthetic experimentation within Europe’s creative and cultural ecosystems. It promotes technology as an enabler of awareness and collaboration, valorising traditional practices and fostering innovation rooted in cultural identity and material care. Ultimately, this document provides both a conceptual roadmap and a practical guide for policymakers, educators, and practitioners to advance sustainable, inclusive, and creative transformations in Europe’s craft sectors.
