TRANSLATE Factsheet

Description

The TRANSLATE project is making strides in the field of energy conversion with its cutting-edge nanofluidic technology.

To capture our progress, we’ve launched our TRANSLATE factsheet

The factsheet outlines the TRANSLATE project, an early-stage nanofluidic energy harvesting technology funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 programme. It focuses on converting low-temperature waste heat (below 100°C) into clean electricity using nanofluidic membranes and aqueous NaCl electrolytes. Key features include emission-free operation, potential for high efficiency, and applications in wearables, IoT devices, and environmental monitoring. The technology is still under development, with ongoing research into performance metrics and future integration with energy storage systems. It emphasizes sustainability, compact design, and collaboration opportunities across sectors.

Notes (English)

TRANSLATE is a €3.4 million EU-funded research project that aims to develop a new nanofluidic platform technology to effectively convert waste heat to electricity. This technology has the potential to improve the energy efficiency of many devices and systems, and provide a radically new zero-emission power source. The TRANSLATE project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement number 964251, for the action of 'The Recycling of waste heat through the Application of Nanofluidic ChannelS: Advances in the Conversion of Thermal to Electrical energy'.
