Advancing Gender Equality in Schools through Inclusive Physical Education: Perceptions of PE teachers at LSU

The SUPPORTER project aims to foster gender-related, sustainable, and transformative institutional changes in sports higher education institutions paying specific attention to the challenge of gender-based violence and leading to the development of inclusive, innovative, intersectional and impactful gender equality plans (4I-GEPs). These include a set of grounding actions towards to achieve institutional changes.
This poster, presented at SUPPORTER's final conference, presents one of the grounding actions undertaken by the Lithuanian Sports University, a workshop for PE teachers related to advancing gender equality in schools through inclusive physical education.
Recent research highlights persistent gender disparities in physical education across Europe, including Lithuania, with significant inequalities in both participation and access to opportunities (European Institute for Gender Equality, 2023). Stereotypes about gender roles in sport are often formed during childhood and adolescence, making secondary school education a critical intervention point.
