Description
“All about DBP (disinfection byproducts)” has been the title of the first ZeroPollution4Water Cluster Webinar which took place on 30 November 2023. H2OforAll and SafeCREW have been the organisers of the webinar which attracted about 90 participants. The participants had the chance to learn about the projects and their contributions to our future and drinking water quality.
The webinar included an introduction of both projects and a topic presentation. H2OforAll presented an explanation about DBP formation and their potential impact on human health and the environment. SafeCREW discussed halogenated sulfonic acids in drinking water, which is a class of extremely polar DBPs that have been overlooked by the generic analytical methods. The event had a guest speaker, Professor Urs Von Gunten, who is a leading scientist in the field of oxidation and disinfection processes with many years of experience. He focused his communication on kinetics and mechanisms of disinfection byproduct formation. Also, Andrea Rubini, Water Europe, presented an overview about the goals of the ZeroPollution4Water Cluster.
