FOSSR Learning Session: Designing Socio-Economic policy evaluation: learning through FOSSR

This folder contains all materials derived from the FOSSR Learning session on Designing Socio-Economic policy evaluation: learning through FOSSR organized by Giovanni Cerulli (CNR-IRCrES), and held from December 6th to December 7th 2023.

The Learning Session is based on a two-day program, scheduled for December 6-7, 2023. 
The main objective of this Learning Session is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the process of designing and evaluating socio-economic policies. This will be achieved by incorporating insights from both theoretical viewpoints and group exercises, all within a participatory learning approach.

On Day 1, between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, participants will engage in a series of activities, which take an approach oriented to participatory learning. The session will start with a welcome and an introduction explaining the goals and format of the two-day learning event. The lecturer will provide keywords that are important for assessing socio-economic policies. After that, we will have group discussions where participants will work together to generate ideas, define concepts, and discuss challenges associated with the specific keywords assigned to them. Then, the programme will foresee group presentations to delve into the meaning and exploration of the keywords.

Following a break, the lecturer will provide theoretical insights into policy design and evaluation, incorporating ideas and discussions from the earlier groupworks. The day will conclude with a question and answer session.

On Day 2, starting at 9:30 AM and lasting until 1:30 PM, we will start focusing on the role of FOSSR project in offering essential methodological and data resources for policy design and evaluation. Participants will then be tasked with a policy evaluation exercise in groups, with subsequent group presentations. The day will conclude with a segment that highlights the important role of FOSSR in possibilities for policy learning.
