RiC-O 1.0 as a technical framework for implementing RiC and producing Linked Data
Description
This presentation will focus on the Records in Contexts Ontology (RiC-O) 1.0, as a technical implementation of RiC-CM 1.0, that defines the vocabulary and rules for modeling archival metadata as RDF Linked Data.
The target audience includes persons who want to know more, and who need precise information on RiC-O as a technical implementation of RiC-CM, on some projects that apply RiC using RiC-O, and more generally speaking on strategies and methods for implementing it using semantic technologies. Understanding the paper requires a basic knowledge about RiC-CM and about what an OWL ontology and RDF technologies are.
First, the presentation will provide an overview of RiC-O 1.0, the online resources that can be used to access it and get an update on its development process and roadmap. The main changes from the draft RiC-O 0.2 (released in February 2021) will also be discussed. Information on how one can get involved in RiC-O development, get news about where and how it is used as well as contact those already using it will be provided.
Then, several speakers will showcase several ongoing projects in the Netherlands, Switzerland and France that use RiC-O, and discuss software or frameworks that can help to implement it. The presentation will include concrete examples, as well as references to the documentation and data already available about these projects.
