Innovative development of industry: management orientations for the metallurgical industry in the postwar period

Description

The subject of the study is theoretical and applied provisions regarding the innovative development
of the metallurgical industry, scientific and practical recommendations for management orientations.
The purpose of the study is the scientific and applied substantiation of the guidelines for the
innovative development of the metallurgical industry in the post–war industry.
Research methods. In the process of writing the article, the following methods were used:
abstract–logical, systematization, comparison, generalization.
Results of work. As a result of the conducted research, the development trends of the metallurgical
industry in the pre–war and post–war periods are summarized. The factors and preconditions of such
trends are determined, the essence of which is the reduction of the metallurgy products volume, in
particular steel, in the inconsistency of the applied methods of its production and quality characteristics
with the world ones, due to which the products are sold with a low added value. No new metallurgical
plants were built. Predominantly extensive way of the industry development with local modernization
of production facilities was not justified. It was established that the standards for ferrous metallurgy
products are mostly outdated and do not take into account modern global requirements for its quality.
Significant assets were lost during the war period, which led to a seven–fold decrease in Ukraine’s
share in the world production of ferrous metals in 2022 compared to the pre–war 2013. The need for
innovative development of the metallurgical industry in the post–war period is substantiated.
Scope of the results application. Industrial management, metallurgical industry, innovation sphere.
Conclusions. The established discrepancy of the domestic ferrous metallurgy development trends
and the world actualizes the urgent need to develop a model of innovative development of the industry
for implementation in the post–war period. Its components that will ensure the innovation of the
industry and products are proposed.
