Description
Globally, burnout among healthcare professionals in Peru requires urgent attention. Therefore, a validated and standardized instrument is needed to measure and address it appropriately. This research aimed to determine the psychometric properties of the MBI in healthcare professionals from the Ancash region of Peru. The study employed an instrumental design and included 303 subjects of both sexes (women=77.56%), aged 22 to 63 years (M = 44.46, SD = 12.25), selected through intentional non-probabilistic sampling. Adequate content validity, validity based on internal structure and internal consistency of items through confirmatory factor analysis, and discriminant validity for the three dimensions were obtained. There was evidence of convergent validity for the Emotional Exhaustion (EE) and Personal Accomplishment (PA) dimensions, with reliability values (ω > .75). The results indicate that the EE and PA dimensions showed acceptable levels of reliability (ω and α > .80), but the depersonalization dimension had very low reliability (α < .60 and ω < .50). In conclusion, a three-factor correlated model was confirmed, with most items showing appropriate factor loadings and inter-item correlations. However, convergent validity was not confirmed for the depersonalization dimension.
