ASPECTE CRIMINOGENE ALE SUBCULTURII CRIPTOVALUTARE

The research is dedicated to the criminological aspects of cryptocurrency subculture. The author states that currently digital financial assets haven’t reached mass adoption, that is why it is correct to call the community of this financial instrument users, developers and businessmen, a subculture. It’s not correct to label crypto subculture as criminal one, although it has some elements, as, for example, adherence to anonymity, that have more criminogenic weight than others. It is also noted that this part of subculture is very diverse and consists from different groups or communities, such as miners, developers, traders etc., that have their own values and interests. Sometimes these subgroups even see each other as rivals and even have aggressive attitude towards strangers. The criminologist’s mission is to closely monitor the process of this phenomena formation as well as interactions within the subculture, and to analyze possible roots for the future criminal behavior.
