Description

Latreutes fucorum (Fabricius, 1798)

Material examined (N=2). 1f, 12/VI/2004, St. 0 1 (MZUESC #710); 1ni, 24/III/2005, St. 0 1 (MZUESC #711).

Distribution. Western Atlantic – from Newfoundland to Brazil (Pernambuco, Alagoas, and Bahia) (Christoffersen 1998). Eastern Atlantic – Azores and Cape Verde (Chace 1972).

Habitat: Almost invariably associated with Sargassum in the open sea, but common on seagrass flats (Chace 1972).

Previous records in Bahia. Coelho & Ramos (1972), Cardoso (2006).
