Supply Chain Continuity in the Age of COVID-19
Description
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of supply chains to the functioning of everyday life along with the importance of supply chains during times of crisis. This talk will focus on Pandemics and Supply Chain Risk. We begin with an introduction to the modeling of infectious disease spread within communities and across the world. This will help with the interpretation of data on the status quo of the pandemic, projections for the future, and ways to reduce risk of infection. We also outline several potential scenarios the pandemic could take in the future and the implications for supply chains.
We discuss supply chains that deliver critical medical products (e.g., masks, testing kits, ventilators, etc.) and their components, and some of the factors that have led to shortages in those distribution systems. We will also discuss managing and mitigating supply chain risk for other types of products, including ones for consumers and for other businesses.
