The subject of the study is the set of social and biological characteristics of the project participants
that underlie the formation of behavioral competencies in the project management and its risks.
The purpose of the article is to investigate the sources of behavioral risk formation in the project
management process.
Work methodology is a systematic approach to risk analysis and project risk management.
Results of work. Identification of risk groups in accordance with the essence of the basic concepts
of «risk», «project», «project management». The set of social and biological characteristics that underlie
the behavioral competence of the project manager and team is identified.
The influence of team members’ social and biological characteristics on project risk generalization is
generalized. A system of risk prevention measures has been proposed.
Conclusions. In the project activity, the main asset of the project is human capital, formed into a
coherent system of competencies of the project manager and the team. The research question of the
sources of occurrence of project implementation risks caused by the combination of different ratios of
positive and negative social and biological characteristics in the project team and ways of managing such
risks requires scientific development in view of their impact on the success of the project as a whole.
The proposed approach to project risk management, based on the identification of the social and
biological nature of team members and relevant sources of potential risks, allows for the formation of a
risk prevention system and influence the success of the project in the initial stages of its implementation.
