Complex Problem Solving Strategy and Competence
Description
Seen as a competence for the 21st century, complex problem solving should and can be developed through the study of school subjects, provided efficient strategies are applied. In the curricular area of Language and Communication the most important activities to this end are those directed at the comprehension and interpretation of literary texts and of the issues
they touch upon, the writing of functional texts, and the expression of well-argued viewpoints. Classroom strategies need to be conceived as a system of tasks focused on information gathering, documenting, formulating problems and solutions, analysing
and justifying suggested solutions.
