ІДЕНТИФІКАЦІЯ СУБ’ЄКТА-ДЖЕРЕЛА СТРАХУ ЛІНГВІСТИЧНИМИ ЗАСОБАМИ ОЗНАЧЕНОСТІ/НЕОЗНАЧЕНОСТІ

The article is devoted to the
research of peculiarities of identification of the subject-the source of horror in terms of the topical
for modern linguistics communicative-pragmatic approach. The aim of the article is to investigate
the peculiarities of reference and nomination of the source of horror as a means of influence on
the emotional state of the reader. The research is based on the modern statements of the theory of
reference, text linguistics, artistic discourse and it is illustrated with the quotations from the artistic
texts of the corresponding genre. The analysis of the usage of means of definiteness/indefiniteness
in the reference history of the source of horror allowed defining mechanisms of reference which are
unique for this genre and can be actualized in the perception of the reader only. Also the research
made it possible to single out such peculiar features of definiteness/indefiniteness expression as the
use of certain syntactic constructions, the creation of referential chains; definiteness/indefiniteness
expression varies depending on the perception, so the source of fear may be expressed as split
or synthesized. Further perspectives of the analysis lie in the focus on the interdependence of
definiteness/indefiniteness expression, syntactic patterns and their referential potential.
