Description

This repository contains the anonymised dataset and fully reproducible R scripts associated with the article “Pre-task grammar instruction and individual differences in young EFL learners’ form-focused interaction” (under review in Vigo International Journal of Applied Linguistics).

The materials document the analysis of the effects of pre-task grammar instruction (PTGI) on young Basque-Spanish EFL learners’ engagement (LRE production) with two morphosyntactic targets:

  • 3rd person singular subject pronouns (HE/SHE)

  • Present simple 3rd person singular agreement morpheme (3ps -s).

The dataset includes anonymised pair-level data from two collaborative dictogloss tasks, individual difference measures (Flyers test for proficiency and MLAT-ES Part II for language-analytic ability), and combined summary scores used in the statistical analyses. It also contains the corresponding R scripts used for data cleaning, reliability analyses, and inferential statistics.

Additionally, the dataset includes transcription examples illustrating the coding of learners’ collaborative dialogues, including representative form-focused episodes (LREs) related to one of the target structures (present simple -s). These excerpts serve purely scientific-reporting purposes and comply with the Ethics Committee protocol and parental-consent conditions, which prohibit any transfer or disclosure of identifiable recordings or full transcripts. All included materials have been fully anonymised in accordance with institutional and data-protection guidelines.
