Project
University of Basel

We are an interdisciplinary research project dedicated to the comprehensive study and documentation of Basel's long history. Our initiative was born in the 1980s, but only gained new momentum in 2011 through an association and the Department of History at the University of Basel. Finally, in 2016, our project was supported and approved by the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt.

Our team consists of more than fifty dedicated researchers and collaborators from different countries who are devoted to researching and presenting Basel's history.

Our goal is to make a significant contribution to the research and documentation of Basel's history while making the past accessible in a contemporary manner. We appreciate your interest and invite you to explore our website and learn more about the fascinating history of Basel.
