Siberian State Medical University (SibMed) is among the TOP-3 best medical universities in Russia. In 2017 SibMed obtained the status of the only flagship medical university in Russia. Moreover, the University was selected by the Government of the Russian Federation to take part in the implementation of the project aimed at increasing education exports in Russia. It is remarkable that SibMed is one of the 2 medical universities selected to work on this project. 

Siberian State Medical University hosts 8 Research Centers in the following fields of medicine: Molecular Medicine, Innovative Technologies in Morphology, Pharmacy and Pharmacology (Pharmaceuticals), Biocompatible materials, and Bioengineering, Laser technologies in medical diagnostics, Experimental and Clinical Immunology, and Evidence-based Medicine. 

SibMed is one of the few institutions in Russia that has its own multidisciplinary university hospital. SibMed's Clinics are equipped with the latest MRI cameras, gamma cameras, endoscopic and ultrasound complexes as well as other necessary medical devices. 

This affects the teaching staff and student body to a large extent. The teaching staff consists of 80% of specialists with academic degrees and titles and 50% practicing doctors. Our students have a unique opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in the classroom at the clinics. What is more, the university hospital is not only the place where research and education is conducted but also it welcomes more than 100 thousand patients from all over Russia annually. 

In addition to the multidisciplinary hospital, SibMed students can receive training at the modern simulation center.  

The Research Library of the Siberian State Medical University is the only publicly accessible medical library in the Tomsk Region, the largest specialized library in Siberia. It is regarded to be the best library in Russia among medical universities under the annual libraries ranking compiled by the Academy of Evidence-Based Medicine in 2016. 
In 2015 SibMed became the first medical university in Russia to be accredited by the Skolkovo Technopark. 

SibMed is proactively integrating education and research activities into the international scientific and educational community and encouraging collaboration with leading experts and scientists from all over the world into the activities of our University. 

Siberian State Medical University has initiated the launch of the international consortium on infectious diseases, namely Tomsk Opisthorchiasis Consortium (TOPIC) that involves Switzerland, Germany, Thailand, the USA, and the Netherlands. International partners include universities and research organizations in the UK, Germany, the USA, Korea, Japan, Latvia, CIS region and others. There are more than 30 international research groups currently working in these centers and participating in joint international projects. SibMed has also implemented several international scientific and technological projects in cooperation with the University of Minnesota and the city of Vanderbilt (USA), University of Montreal (Canada), the National Heart and Lung Institute (UK), Kinki University (Japan).
