Scope
This collection contains material mainly produced by the Software Heritage team, project partners, and community members.
This is a collection of resources about Software Heritage and its related projects. Its scope is not the same as the archive (i.e. the library of source code).
- "What if I need to get my source code archived by Software Heritage?"
- Thanks to the Zenodo integration, the process is automated: "When a researcher deposits software in Zenodo, the software will be automatically sent to Software Heritage (if the files are publicly accessible). Zenodo then obtains the associated Software Hash Identifier (SWHID), links it with the DOI, and displays it on the record landing page. The DOI integrates with the scholarly publishing ecosystem, while the SWHID provides direct access to the archived source code, including the full version history. This bi-directional linking ensures interoperability between two key identifiers for research software."
- Use the Zenodo helpdesk to report issues, ask for support
Recommendation for content submission
In case of a direct submission, i.e., a user may submit a record directly to the Software Heritage Community: the submission will be moderated by the Software Heritage Community curator, for compliance with the minimal required metadata requirements and its correctness.
In case of indirect as well as direct submission:
-
Visibility: Both public and restricted access are possible
-
Resource types: All resource types, except videos
-
Submissions must use an open license; if you are not sure, use Creative Commons Attribution 4.0.
-
Creators with an academic background SHOULD be identified with a persistent identifier (e.g., ORCID, GND, …), and when accurate, affiliations SHOULD be identified with a persistent identifier (e.g., ROR, ISNI, …)
Review and moderation
Community curators may at any point edit metadata of the records in the community without notice through human or automated processing. The curators may, at their sole discretion, remove records from the community that are deemed not to comply with the content and curation policy or that are deemed of insufficient quality.
Terms of use
Zenodo’s general policies and Terms of Use apply to all content.
