Shared Habitats is a transdisciplinary research and publication format, exploring the design of urban spaces from a more-than-human perspective. The project fuses design and planning with the fields of ecology and environmental humanities. Contributions evolve from a place-based approach and combine theoretical discourse, practical applications and experimental artistic research.

The project seeks to foster new ideas, as well as critical dialogue and knowledge exchange between those fields. Thereby Shared Habitats is grounded in a local context and collaborates with Swiss actors, while its outlook is global. Each new edition is based on a single topic and distributed in a hybrid way—via our open-access online platform and through a print version.
