This project has the scope of building a semantic model, software toolkit and showcase application for the 'mapping' and serving of
distributed archaeological field survey datasets, which represent an enormous but largely untapped international cultural
heritage data resource. The semantic model will be based on the CIDOC CRM standard, the mapping engine and front-end
will be open source, and the showcase on three large and disparate datasets for the hinterland of Rome. The team consists
of subject specialists as well as specialists in semantic modeling and the creation of Linked Open Data. The proposal targets
survey data owners, researchers, and cultural heritage managers.
