SafeAm aims at accelerating the implementation of new value chains for ammonia as a zero-emission fuel and energy carrier by improving safety systems design and procedures for handling of liquid ammonia spills on and into water.

SafeAm is a KSP (Knowledge-building project / Kompetanse-og samarbeidsprosjekt) led by SINTEF Energy Research and performed under the ENERGIX programme. SafeAm is partly funded by the Research Council of Norway (344210), with support from Wartsila, Yara Clean Ammonia and the following partners of the LowEmission Research Centre (Norway): TotalEnergies, Equinor, ConocoPhillips, Vår Energi, Aker BP, Repsol Norge, Wintershall DEA Norge, DNO Norge, OMV Norge, Sval Energi.
