QNattyNet aims at laying the foundations of a truly quantum-native Internet. The key idea is that the future Quantum Internet will not be a mere extension of today Internet, but something fundamentally new, designed from the ground up to exploit the unique power of quantum entanglement. While the design principles of the classical Internet have been enormously successful, they are not suited to capture and leverage the principles and phenomena of quantum mechanics. With QNattyNet, we are envisioning new ways to design and operate quantum networks so that entanglement is elected as the key resource — distributed, coordinated, and used reliably across different systems. To this end, QNattyNet’s vision is to introduce a paradigm shift, by exploiting the “quantumness” not only in the messages exchanges across the network, but also in its core network functionalities.
