The Participatory Science Communication community is dedicated to advancing communicative, dialogic, and deliberative approaches to science in society.
The community understands science communication not as one-way dissemination, but as a relational and co-productive process through which scientific knowledge, meanings, and decisions are shaped in interaction with diverse publics and stakeholders. It brings together research, methods, datasets, tools, and reflective documentation that examine how communicative practices enable (or constrain) participation, voice, influence, and mutual learning in research and innovation.
This community particularly welcomes contributions that:
- Analyse participatory, co-creative, or deliberative communication processes in science and technology.
- Investigate how formats, narratives, mediation, facilitation, and communicative infrastructures shape the quality and effects of participation.
- Trace how communicative exchanges influence research agendas, decisions, outputs, or pathways to impact.
- Develop or apply frameworks and indicators that make participatory communication observable, traceable, and accountable.
- Connect participatory communication with Open Science, citizen science, responsible research and innovation, and knowledge valorisation, especially in publicly funded R&I (e.g., Horizon Europe).
By curating these contributions, the community seeks to foster critical reflection, methodological innovation, and evidence-based practice in participatory science communication.
