These files form part of an archive of research data mainly relating to the diplomatic mission to Persia 1810-15, led by Sir Gore Ouseley as ambassador. The data have been compiled by independent researchers W H (Bill) Martin and Sandra Mason.  The files comprise a number of searchable listings relating to the reports produced by members of the mission and other relevant data.  The data formed the basis for a published report on the Ouseley Mission, which is also part of the archive.  The material included is as follows:

  1. ousjourney – database with details of the Ouseley mission to Persia taken from the four reports by participants in the mission (referenced below).

The databases were produced as working documents, enabling us to bring together information from  four different reports on the Ouseley mission, together with other material relating to the Ouseley brothers.  The level of detail contained in many fields varies, and no attempt has been made to correct for this unevenness or for minor typographical errors.  Where the material was used in our published report, it was corrected further.

The database files have been saved in two formats:  a Microsoft Access database (.accdb) and a comma-delimited text file (.txt).  Explanatory README text files contain tables showing the fields included in the databases and giving definitions of them and of the codings used in different cases.
