The Movement Journal is the first scholarly publication where human movement is citable research. Operated by the Global Movement Research (GMR) project at the University of Texas at Austin, the journal publishes dance and movement recordings as peer-reviewed scholarly objects. Each accepted submission receives a DataCite DOI, undergoes computational analysis through the Movement Language Model pipeline, and enters a living archive spanning 33 countries and dozens of distinct traditions.

The journal is part of the Triadic Platform (thetriadic.studio), a research infrastructure for computational movement analysis developed by Sinclair Ogaga Emoghene, Assistant Professor of Dance at UT Austin. The platform provides researchers, educators, and practitioners with tools to analyze, compare, and search movement traditions through discrete movement vocabularies discovered by machine learning.
