The primary objective of METALLICO is to decrease the dependency on volatile and external markets for critical and battery metals supply by contributing to overcoming transversal barriers such as technical innovation, investment, and public acceptance. The project aims to develop a digital platform composed of (i) an inventory of primary and secondary sources and (ii) digital twins of novel metal production or recovery trains. These digital twins will be fed by operational data obtained from several innovative, cost-effective and sustainable critical and battery metal production and recovery trains, demonstrated at a relevant industrial scale (TRL6-7) and validated for a wide variety of primary and secondary sources placed in EU countries. Thus, the project will pave the way to the project market uptake to reduce the European dependence on the imports of third countries
