The LTER (Long-Term Ecosystem Research) Site Oberes Stubachtal, located in Salzburg, Austria, has been a focal point of ecological and environmental research for over sixty years. This extensive research area encompasses glaciers and alpine ecosystems, providing a unique and valuable setting for long-term ecological observations.

The research site is a vital tool for analyzing ecosystem changes over time, distinguishing natural variability from anthropogenic influences. Integrated into the Long-Term Socio-Ecological Research (LTSER) platform Tyrolean Alps, Oberes Stubachtal will also be part of the upcoming eLTER Cluster National Park Hohe Tauern and is a key component of the eLTER Austria Network (eLTER Austria).
