The Borehole Research Group (BRG) at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) of Columbia University has been the main repository and distribution site for scientific ocean logging data since the start of the Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) in the early 1980s. In the mid 1990s, LDEO pioneered the online distribution of ODP data with the development of a log database (LogDB) that also included data from the Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP), as well as from programs other than scientific ocean drilling. LogDB offers a variety of data search options and fast download. It also provides interactive tools aimed at assisting scientists in their research. Collaboration with log data acquisition groups of the European and Japanese operators for IODP has allowed for the log data collected by IODP to be consistent across all platforms.
