HELICAL (Health Data Linkage for Clinical Benefit) is a Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Integrated Training Network for Early Stage Researchers which links healthcare record, environmental, proteomic and genomic data in 3 scientific work packages, using autoimmune vasculitis as paradigm. With its research in the filed of data linkage and cross-cutting with a work package focused on data governance, it is placed in the new GDPR era.
The HELICAL training network for the ESRs aims to create next generation of Health Informatics Researchers. This multidisciplinary programme is delivered in collaboration of experts from Academia and Industry and addresses the challenge of lack of skilled researchers in this field. it aims to unfold the complex biology of the scalable autoimmune vasculitis by elucidating complex datasets, created through advances in AI and information science. HELICAL is focused in acquiring new biological insights, their translation into clinical outputs and identification and management of ethical concerns associated with them.
