Echoes of the Script: Open Lab for Ancient Writing is an open, evidence-first research community focused on making writing-system claims auditable, comparable, and repeatable. We publish lightweight, reviewable research artifacts—especially protocols, templates, reviewer sheets, and calibration cases—that help contributors align scoring outcomes before moving into higher-uncertainty material.

This community supports structured peer checking through a shared workflow (e.g., Quick-Scan + R2 checks) and a consistent outcome set (Confirmed / Needs Evidence / Not Supported). Early releases emphasize benchmarks from known/deciphered material and carefully bounded worked examples, creating a rigor layer that can later be applied to partially deciphered and undeciphered scripts (including the Indus Valley script).

Participation is open: contributors may submit records, run replications, provide R2 checks, and publish follow-up records that cite and link back so validations remain discoverable.
