The Darwin Project is an initiative, based at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to advance the development and application of novel models of marine microbes and microbial communities, identifying the relationships of individuals and communities to their environment, connecting cellular-scale processes to global microbial community structure. More details of the project can be found at http://darwinproject.mit.edu/

Part of this project includes the development of the DARWIN marine ecosystem model that is part of the MITgcm (http://mitgcm.org). Code can be downloaded from  https://github.com/darwinproject/darwin3. And documentation is available at https://darwin3.readthedocs.io/en/latest/phys_pkgs/darwin.html

The darwin model is versatile and the type of configuration is dependent on the study. The purpose of this zenodo community is to provide output and model code and input fields from various version of the DARWIN model.
