Our research focuses on adaptation to coastal hazards from local to national scales with an emphasis on interdisciplinary research on nature-based adaptation. We integrate hydrodynamic and storm modeling data and tools with ecological data on habitat extents and condition and spatial datasets of people and assets to understand how coastal ecosystems influence coastal flood risks.

Dynamics of Ecosystem-based Adaptation in Mangrove-Reef Social-Ecological Systems

How do mangrove and coral reef ecosystems influence flood risks to island communities?

How do decisions on ecosystem-based adaptation after a storm feed back into the risk reduction effectiveness of mangrove-reef ecosystems ?

Sustaining Salt Marsh Wetlands to Enhance Coastal Resilience

How effective are inter-tidal marsh wetlands for reducing hurricane flood risks?

How does coastal development influence wetland loss and flood risk?
