Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment

The Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) was founded in December 2022. It brings together more than 600  (and growing) research performing organisations, research funders, policy actors and research infrastructures from over 40 countries who join forces to implement the timely reform of research assessment across Europe and beyond. Our vision is to enable a systemic reform of assessment of research, researchers and research organisations that recognises the diverse outputs, practices and activities that maximise the quality and impact of research. This requires basing assessment primarily on qualitative judgement, for which peer review is central, supported by responsible use of quantitative indicators.

In the context of the CoARA Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment, signatory organisations are invited to share with each other and with their community how their organisation has started the process of implementing the Core Commitments according to an action plan with defined milestones within one year of signing the Agreement.

In this community, CoARA signatories and members are invited to share their action plans with each other.
