Community submissions [Zenodo help] and draft reviews [Zenodo help] welcome for the AAS Journals Zenodo community. Requirements:

  • Demonstration of relationship to a submitted manuscript or published article for the AAS Journals (ApJ, AJ, ApJL, ApJS, BAAS, PSJ, RNAAS) by including the article submission ID or the published article DOI from your email communications with Journals or production staff;
    • Critical: Preprints (pre-submission manuscripts, white papers, opinion pieces, reviews) in any format (PDF or otherwise) will be declined immediately; preprints must be submitted to the AAS Journals. It is fine to include manscript files with your data or software submissions so long as your Zenodo record is clearly related to a manuscript under review at the AAS Journals.
  • Attention to the best practices for publishing data or software to a repository. These practices can be found in more detail in our Data Guide or our GitHub help site, but include at least the following metadata elements:
    • Ensure that the authorship of the data is complete, including the names, ORCIDs, and affiliations of anyone who contributed to the creation of this material;
    • Ensure that there is sufficient description of the individual files that they may be understood and reused by the wider community;
    • Ensure that there is an appropriate license assigned to the dataset on the repository;
    • Be prepared to provide multiple versions or releases of your data and software.
  • Acceptance that the AAS Data Editors will be able to curate the record's metadata and potentially -- iff necessary -- make file changes (new versions) on behalf of the submitting author(s).
