Description
NASA's Heliophysics Digital Resource Library (HDRL) https://hdrl.gsfc.nasa.gov/ provides data and services for the Heliophysics System Observatory. Part of HDRL, the Space Physics Data Facility (SPDF) https://spdf.gsfc.nasa.gov/ manages the non-solar data archive and associated services, including the popular CDAWeb data browsing system https://cdaweb.gsfc.nasa.gov/ . HDRL also manages the SPASE metadata collection effort for describing heliophysics resources, which are searchable via the Heliophysics Data Portal https://heliophysicsdata.gsfc.nasa.gov/ . The SPASE records and other heliophysics metadata are merged with metadata from other divisions of NASA's Science Mission Directorate (SMD) as the Science Discovery Engine (SDE) https://sciencediscoveryengine.nasa.gov/ . We'll briefly introduce these portals and discuss how their goals are reflected in their designs.
