LaTiS: Middleware for Interoperable Data Access
Description
LaTiS is an Open Source software library that enables reading, transforming, and writing of scientific data. The software uses a low code approach to enable the reading of diverse datasets via configuration of one of many reusable format adapters. Once exposed via a common data model, operations can be performed on the data which can then be output in a variety of formats. LaTiS provides standards-based web service interfaces, including the Heliophysics Application Programmer's Interface (HAPI), to enable remote data access to client applications or as direct downloads.
LaTiS is used at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado to support a number of applications including scientific data portals and spacecraft telemetry monitoring tools. This talk will present the high level design of LaTiS, show examples of its utility, and discuss challenges dealing with data diversity.
