M. Elengifruit Extract Assisted Green Synthesis of Gold NPs and its Photocatalytic, Antimicrobial, and Anti-Oxidant Activity

The Au NPs were prepared using M. Elengi extract and evaluated the photocatalytic, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. The structural and morphology of prepared sample Au NPs was done by x-ray diffraction, FTIR, UV-Vis and HRTEM analysis. The prepared Au NPs exhibited UV-Visible absorption peak at 546 nm. XRD results confirmed the crystalline nature of Au NPs. HRTEM analysis revealed that the mean particles size of Au NPs was found to be 14. 5nm.The Au NPs exhibited potential dye degradation towards alizarin red under visible light irradiation at ambient environment. Antimicrobial test results shown that the Au NPs exhibited maximum zone of inhibition against pathogenic bacteria (S.aureus (13.5mm), Bacillus megaterium (14.5mm), Shigelladysenteriae(17mm), pseudomonas aeruginosa (15.5mm)) and fungal (C.Albicans (15mm)) strainwhen compared to standard. Significant antioxidant activity was also observed for Au NPs by scavenging DPPH free radicals. Based on the experimental outcomes, the Au NPs prepared using M. Elengi extract could be used for a potent photocatalytic, anti-bacterial and antioxidant agent.
