Description
The issue of optimizing the ideal stock of each material in a diverse storage type paradigm is addressed in a many-objective perspective. The holding costs, energy consumption and shortage risk are used as minimization objectives, a novel approach intertwined with the topics of environmentally friendly logistics systems and energy management in manufacturing execution systems, bringing forth a sustainability component to a typically profit-centred research topic. General-use warehouses, storage tanks and cold storages are considered and the effects of the energy consumption per level of fullness is modelled. The model also takes into account the production schedule on a 60 day horizon. The results of the optimization are analysed, and a 30-day rolling forward scenario is done, with daily optimization results, to observe the evolution of the optimization solutions with time. A final scenario is also presented, where the risk is divided into three components, making it a 5-objective optimization.
