Description
The Monarchs’ Visits to Balti or About the Stories of an Honored City
Summary. Starting from the finding that a city can gain an extra image if it has been honored
by the presence in it of illustrious people, in this article we propose the capitalization of the history of
the visits of emperors and kings in the city of Balti, in order to outline some narratives to complete his
mythopoetic file. We believe that the performance of the rituals of welcoming the monarchs can be
the content of wonderful stories, which will add precious pieces to the artistic heritage of Balti. Each
separately, the stories of the visits of Tsar Alexander I of Russia (1811); Tsarina Maria Alexandrovna,
wife of Emperor Alexander II and mother of Emperor Alexander III (1867); of King Ferdinand I of
Romania and Queen Maria; of the presence to Carol as Crown Prince, representative of royalty and,
in almost ten years, as King, together with Crown Prince Mihai, ennobles the history of the city of
Bălti, adds an extra tourist attraction and cultural visibility. Promoting cities through mythopoetic
improves the image and imagology of the city.
