Description

Investigations on the occurrence of Xylosandrus germanus (Blandford, 1894) (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) in trap catches in apple orchards of the Lower Adige Valley in South Tyrol.

In this article, we report the presence of the Asian ambrosia beetle Xylosandrus germanus (Blanford, 1894) (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) in apple tree samples from 2018 in Auer/Laimburg, Kaltern, and Eppan in South Tyrol, Italy. Different “Ambrosiabeetles” typically infest weakened trees such as apple trees. Two main species were found in the vicinity of fruit orchards, and also X. germanus was monitored using Ethanol-traps from 2018 to 2022. The results of this monitoring are presented in this article.
